Jack White’s Directorial Debut Cuts

Multi-instrumentalism, playing in 3 bands, producing country albums, collaborating with the likes of Keith Richards, Alicia Keys, Beck and Mark Ronson, recording an impromptu track for rockumentary ‘It Might Get Loud’, a string of acting cameos including a portrayal of Elvis Presley, penning songs for some of these soundtracks and launching his own record store just doesn’t seem to be enough for Juggernaut Jack… and now he’s taken the directors chair for the music video of The Dead Weather’s third single ‘I Cut Like A Buffalo’. Does the video make any sense?… not to me, but stylistically it looks wonderful!

The Dead Weather – Treat Me Like Your Mother

Being a huge fan of The White Stripes I tend to lap up anything Jack White put’s out there. The Raconteurs I found instantly addictive and loved the Alicia Keys collaboration for “Another Way To Die”, arguably one of the greatest Bond theme songs to date.

The Dead Weather on the other hand I wasn’t immediately convinced of (proving that I’m not completely suggestible) but warmed a few weeks later (to contradict the former) and finally got around to watching this music video.

The video sees Jack and Alison cast as a couple having a domestic with automatic weapons. Though directed by the great Jonathan Glazer I can’t help but find it reminiscent of a Tarantino/Rodriguez film and though I certainly don’t endorse gun culture I have to say… they look cool as (expletive deleted)!!!
